You need a word encounter.

A while back, I got this insight from one of my favourite ministers..

Please, relax and read this story carefully:

Once when he was standing on the shore of Lake Gennesaret, the crowd was pushing in on him to better hear the Word of God. He noticed two boats tied up. The fishermen had just left them and were out scrubbing their nets. He climbed into the boat that was Simon's and asked him to put out a little from the shore. Sitting there, using the boat for a pulpit, he taught the crowd. When he finished teaching, he said to Simon, "Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch. "Simon said, "Master, we've been fishing hard all night and haven't caught even a minnow. But at thy word (KJV), I'll let out the nets." It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them with the catch. Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell to his knees before Jesus. "Master, leave. I'm a sinner and can't handle this holiness. Leave me to myself." When they pulled in that catch of fish, awe overwhelmed Simon and everyone with him. It was the same with James and John, Zebedee's sons, co-workers with Simon. Jesus said to Simon, "There is nothing to fear. From now on you'll be fishing for men and women."

                                                                                                                 Luke 5:1-10

The fisher men in this narrative were already burnt out and bereft, when Jesus came into their boats and instucted them to thrust out a little from land. And he instructed them "Push out into deep water and let your nets out for a catch." Peter argued that they had been grafting all night and had taken nothing. Then he said, "But at thy Word"...

This story adequately describes the situation many believers find themselves in today. Jesus has entered into their lives, just as He has entered peter's boat (remember we are vessels of mercy according to Romans 9:23) but, they are still frustrated, because the presence of Jesus in your life does not mean an automatic access to breakthroughs. What triggers breakthroughs in your life is, "But at thy word". It is the Word of God in you that determines your worth in life. To make maximum impact, you must never underestimate the Word of God for your life. Respond to the Word positively, that means actually taking out time to read and meditate, understand and soak yourself in it.

Looking at peter, you will discover that the encounter he had with God's Word not only ended his frustration, but enabled him to make the kind of impact that is still being felt somany years after his death!!!!

That could be your testimony too. Get a Word encounter!
